New Media Services Company Launch: MobileCast Media
Company will focus on delivering corporate content to mobile devices such as the iPod, starting with Podcasting and Video Podcasting.
PALO ALTO, Calif., July 1, 2005 -- MobileCast Media launched today as a service
provider for new media services, specifically podcasting and video podcasting. This
is the first company of it's kind to offer production, syndication and buying
services for corporations. Production entails concept generation, script
writing, casting, pre-production, recording, post-production, editing, and
delivery. Syndication entails distributing audio or video content via RSS
(Really Simple Syndication) which uses XML (Extensible Markup Language). When
content is syndicated, it then becomes available through major directories such
as iTunes. Media buying entails purchasing advertising space within podcast or
video podcast content for ad placement. Companies will need help navigating legal
issues in this space as the rules that apply to podcasting and video podcasting are
different and more strict than you find with TV, radio, and streaming content.
"It's a brave new world out there and we've navigated a
path so that corporations can quickly come up to speed to use podcasting and
video podcasting," says John Houghton, President and Founder. "We predict that
companies will want to outsource media creation just as they outsource web
development."
John is a pioneer in ecommerce strategy for some of the
world's largest companies touting a decade of experience in XML development,
having set industry standards for ecommerce. XML is now a core part of the
technology to distribute podcasting and video podcasting through RSS. "After all the
technical issues are covered, companies need to think about their message."
Repurposed content doesn't do as well as content that is created specifically
for the new medium. "Whenever you inform a customer or reinforce a brand image,
you have to entertain them in the process." Houghton's content creation skills
are assisted by 15 years experience in the entertainment business.
